It is Finished! (with sermon video)

John 19:30(KJV) 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The word finished is the same as "paid in full."  Jesus came for the expressed purpose of fulfilling God's work of redemption.  During Jesus' earthly ministry, he had stated that he had come to do the will of Him that had sent Him, and to finish His work. (John 4:34)

Jesus willfully paid the penalty for our sins with His death.  The complex sacrificial system of shedding the blood of animals to pay the price for mankind's sin was completed.  Jesus had taken upon himself our sins and had paid the price for our sins by shedding His blood.

Because of sin, humanity owed a debt to God that humanity could not repay.  Jesus paid it all, by shedding his blood on Calvary.  By his completed redemptive work, Jesus restored mankind's covenant relationship with God.  Because of what Jesus did in finishing this work of redemption, we can freely approach God and call him Abba which means Father!  By accepting Jesus and His redemptive work, we escape the penalty of sin and become saved by the grace of God.

Unlike man, God's forgiveness is complete.  Once you have accepted Christ, not only will your sins be forgiven, but they will be forgotten.  Don't allow your past to prevent you from having a future with the "Father" once you have come to the Father and ask for forgiveness, all the grief and sorrow of your past sin will be gone.

Your personal redemption has been completed so that you can forgive others just as God has forgiven you. If you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior, I urge and encourage you to do so, and join a new testament Church of your choice.  "It is Finished!"
