Paul is requesting prayer from the Thessalonian people. The fervent prayers of the saints are important to the ministers of the gospel. Have you prayed for your minister of the gospel lately? It is vital that you do! However, in asking for prayer, Paul also acknowledged the need for God to rescue/deliver the Thessalonians from wrong doers in that there were some among them that were not of the faith. We serve a God that is faithful! We may disappoint God, but God will not disappoint us. In spite of all that is going on around us, we must endure and remain faithful to God while we wait on the deliverance of Christ Jesus. While we endure the painful experiences of life, we must allow God to guide our hearts into the love of God. We should never become bitter or discouraged to the point that we give up or give in. Even Christ loved his enemies and directed us to pray for them that despite-fully use us and persecute us. Patiently wait on the Lord, and He will strengthen your heart!
